Yes, Elrond kissed Galadriel in the latest episode Power Rings. Yes, it was scary and caused a lot of heat from viewers. And, yes, we are going to talk about it, because I had the opportunity to chat with the actor Elrond Robert Aramayo about this crucial moment and why his son decided to kiss his friend while working to help her escape from the Orcs.
Fans are all kinds of receptive when it comes to that Galadriel and Elrond Kiss
For most of Season 2, a split between Galadriel and Elrond because of the rings and their opposing views on them. Morfydd Clark’s character wanted to use them to defeat Sauron. However, elf Aramayo wanted to destroy them, and even himself jump from a waterfall to do that.
Now, as the battle to save Middle-earth kicked into high gear, the two reunited on the battlefield. And in an attempt to save his friend, Elrond kissed her so that he could pierce her with a pin that would help her escape from Adar.
Of course, a kiss like that between two beloved The Lord of the Rings characters are a very big, and the audience had all kinds of ideas about it, as you can see below:

There was also much talk about the fact that Galadriel, who is much older than Elrond, will eventually become his mother-in-law, as he marries her to Celebron’s daughter Celebrían. So even though that didn’t happen in the show, it’s definitely a part of the lore that fans aren’t forgetting.
So, with all that in mind, here’s what Robert Aramayo had to say about this polarizing moment Power Rings and why it happened.
Robert Aramayo Explained Why It Happened, Makes A Whole Lot Of Thought For Me
When I was preparing for my latest interviews with the thrown off Power RingsI knew I had to ask Robert Aramayo about that kiss, because it was so scary. I could feel the desperation in Elrond’s actions, and their faces seemed to scream that they were doing what they had to do to survive. Until then, the actor told me why his character did what he did, saying:
I think it’s a strategic move, you know, and it’s a pretty smart strategic move, because nobody expects it to happen.
Then, Benjamin Walker, who was sitting next to Aramayo and plays High King Gil-galad, said that Elrond was “the only viable play, really.” And they are both right. The elf had to shock and distract Adar and the Orcs so he could get the pin to Galadriel, and it worked.
As well as this being a tactical move, however, Aramayo explained his character’s love for Galadriel and his fear of losing his friend forever at that moment. He said:
I mean, it’s the scariest play he could do – you know what I mean – in that room. But also, you know, he’s fulfilling his promise. He’s putting everything down, beating Sauron, you know? So, that’s what he promised her, and that’s what he’s going to do. But he loves her, and, you know, she’s like one of his family. There are many elves in, there are many I think, in fact, in his life, which are almost very parental. Of course, you are one of them [pointing to Walker who plays Gil-galad]you know, but she is different. She’s got that, not the same as Gil-galad, but the kind of influence he had on him. She taught him so much. So the thought that this evil is now going away and dying is heartbreaking.
It made sense to me, at this moment, between Elrond trying to save his friend and seriously thinking that he might never see her again, that he would kiss her. He found the pin for her, because Adar and the Orcs had been put off by the unexpected affection, and it gave him a chance to tell his friend who is basically family safe.
Now, I’m curious to see how their relationship develops beyond this point. We know that they will both survive this battle and marry other people, but in the short term, I’m looking forward to seeing how this battle and the love situation affects them.
